Cinematographer B Kannan passes away
The Cinematographer and actor B Kannan, who is known for his association with director Bharathiraja and is famously referred as ‘Bharathirajvin Kangal’, breathed his last at a private hospital in Chennai. B Kannan was suffering from age-related issues for the last couple of weeks.
B Kannan has worked as a cinematographer in over 50 films, out of which, 40 movies are directed by Bharathiraja. Kannan was also the Head of Department of cinematography at BOFTA Film Institute in Chennai. His famous works include Nizhalgal, Mann Vasanai, Pudhumai Penn, Mudhal Mariyathai, Alaigal Oivathillai, Tik Tik Tik, Oru Kaidhiyin Diary, Kadalora Kavithaigal, Vedham Pudhithu, Kizhakku Cheemaiyile, Karuththamma, etc. One of B Kannan last works with Bhaathiraja was “Bommalattam” in 2018 starring Arjun Sarja and Nana Patekar.
B Kannan is the son of film-maker A Bhimsingh and the younger brother of editor B Lenin. He is survived by wife Kanchana and two daughters named MadhuMathi and Janani. His mortal remains will be kept at his residence in Alwarpet, Chennai, from 6 pm today till Sunday ie. 14th June morning. Condolence messages have been pouring in over his unexpected demise.
Apart from Tamil movies, B Kannan had also worked as a cinematographer in Tollywood and Mollywood.
